Our electricity was out for several hours during a wind advisory, so we drove to South Haven to get pizza.  I like to drive past the Lake when we’re there.  The wind storm was creating large waves on Lake Michigan.  You can’t really see the waves well with my camera phone……..but it’s another video snippet of life.

2006.9.30 Our First Video

October 1, 2006

In November of 2001 I had bought a video camera for my online Speech class.  In the video below  I just turned it on and was trying to figure out how to use it, when the kids decided to do their thing in front of the camera.  I made it into a little mini-movie.  Luke is 10 and Charlie is 7.

2006.9.25

Wow!  I forgot just how time consuming college was.  It’s definitely hard to work, raise kids (thank goodness they’re old enough to fend for themselves) and attend college.  But online classes save me driving time and can be done at midnight, if necessary.  But I’m on a mission.  I’ve begun classes at Baker College and am pursuing my Bachelor of Web Development.

Oh my, how am I going to do it?  I’m going to have to move the submission of Wasp to February 14, 2007.  Even that’s an ambitious date.  I’ll set my timer and just commit to it.  I’ll do it tomorrow…..really, I will.

While I was driving down my driveway these strange birds were in my path.  I think they belong to my neighbor, Steve.  He has chickens, sheep, and the like.  They’re cool looking, though.

My original plan was to submit my suspense novel, The Wasp, tomorrow but that date is now changed to December 12, 2006.  The Wasp is still a work in progress and I don’t feel I have it to a point where I could send a ‘good’ proposal out to agents or publishers.  I’m disappointed I haven’t worked as hard as I could’ve on getting it fleshed out.  The bones (outline) seems very solid and I don’t anticipate any major changes there, though I do see a lot of little changes as it’s fleshed out; and who knows, maybe there will be some major changes.

My goal is to write 16 hours per week, but I’m not even close to that.  I’ve set myself up a calendar and I’m keeping track of the time I’m putting in and working on increasing that time weekly until I reach my goal.  I’m including reading about writing, and novels, in that time; but of course, writing has to be the majority.  Even thinking out the plot or characters is an important use of the time.

Odd r/t Crop Circle? 2006.9.4

September 4, 2006

While I was walking this morning I noticed a loud airplane coming from the north.  It circled over the crop circle, a mile from my house, then headed south.  Was it viewing/photographing the crop circle?  Or was it just plain viewing something else?  I don’t know, but I do know that I wish I had my camera phone on me because I would’ve recorded a video (just because).  Anyway, I’ve learned that…..I WON’T GO ANYPLACE WITHOUT MY CAMERA PHONE!

Crop Circle 2006.9.2

September 4, 2006

While driving to pick up Luke from a friends house I noticed this unusual corn field, about a mile from my home.   Later, with camera phone in hand, I went back to get a video of the matted down corn.  What caused it?  I ruled out the wind because you can see from the road that the corn was matted down in swirls, not a sweeping motion you’d expect with wind.  It wasn’t from a car or 4-wheeler because there were no tracks.  People messing around?  Maybe, but it appeared to cover a large area.  All I know for sure is that I’ve lived around corn fields all my life and I don’t remember seeing anything quite like this.  I wish I could’ve seen it from above.  One thing I learned from this…KEEP THE CAMERA PHONE STILL!!!
